Over the last three years, Niki Paltenghi designed the visual identity of Sonnenstube, an independent offspace based in Lugano promoting contemporary art. Each year (from 2021 to 2023), an image production tool has been created.
Sonnenstube defines itself as independent in several respects, and with this in mind – given that the graphic form is a direct consequence of what produces it – Paltenghi works directly on the tool in order to achieve an independent language compared with more conventional ones.
The events are communicated mainly via two media: the A5 flyer and the animation for social networks. What correlation exists between static and animated media? What is their relationship beyond a simple translation from static to animated? How much can one intervene in this equilibrium?
In 2021, the static image constrains the animated one.
In 2022, there is no restriction.
In 2023, the animated image constrains the static one.
