Pleated textiles… they are around us, in sun blinds for our windows, dividing curtains on aeroplanes, filters, maybe a skirt, a summer dress. But are we as aware of them as we are of other forms of textile finishing such as printing or embroidery? Even in the world of fashion, textile design or interiors, in education or manufacturing, awareness of the pleating craft and its potential is rare. 

Eva Ott aims to change this with her studio Plisseebrennerei.
Pleating gives a textile a new dimension, a depth and light reflection, it can be subtle or extravagant, haute couture and everyday casual. It can give used textiles a new look, a new life.
Plisseebrennerei has collaborated with fashion, theatre, costume and interior designers to revive the pleating craft. 

For the past few years, Eva has been developing the craft, teaching students and giving workshops for anyone, experimenting with materials and creating new pleating patterns.
